Gordie Howe made his NHL debut with Detroit Red Wings on October 16, 1946 vs Toronto Maple Leafs, also scoring his 1st NHL goal vs Turk Broda at 13:39 of 2nd period at Detroit Olympia in a 3-3.
Howe scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Jack Gelineau of Boston Bruins on February 11, 1950 at Boston Garden in a 9-4 Red Wings win.
Howe played in 1767 regular season NHL games, scoring 801 goals (121 GWG), 1049 assists with 1685 penalty minutes. He played in 157 NHL playoff games, scoring 68 goals (11 GWG), 92 assists with 220 penalty minutes.
Howe was Detroit Red Wings Captain from 1958 to 1962.
Howe was selected to NHL First All-Star Teams 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1957, 1958, 1960, 1963, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1970.
Howe played in NHL All-Star Games 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1967, 1968, 1969,
1970, 1971, 1980. He was NHL All-Star Game MVP in 1965.

Howe was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Canada on June 25, 1971. This gave him the post-nominal letters "OC" for life.
Gordie Howe joined the Houston Aeros of the World Hockey Association / WHA for the 1973-74 season.
Howe played in 419 regular season WHA games, scoring 174 goals, 334 assists with 399 penalty minutes. He played in 78 WHA playoff games, scoring 28 goals, 43 assists with 115 penalty minutes.
Howe was selected to WHA First All-Star Teams 1974, 1975.
