Terrance Gordon "Terry" Sawchuk - Born December 28, 1929 in Winnipeg, Manitoba - Died May 31, 1970 in New York City, New York was a Canadian/American ice Hockey goaltender.

Sawchuk made his NHL debut with Detroit Red Wings on January 8, 1950 vs Boston Bruins at Detroit Olympia in a 4-3 Boston win.

Sawchuk got his 1st NHL victory on January 14, 1950 vs New York Rangers at Detroit Olympia in a 4-2 Detroit win.

Sawchuk got his 1st NHL shutout vs New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden in a 1-0 Detroit win.

Sawchuk played in 971 regular season NHL games, winning 445, losing 336, 171 ties with 103 shutouts, 7 assists and 225 penalty minutes, and 106 NHL playoff games, winning 54, losing 47 with 12 shutouts and 26 penalty minutes.

NHL First All-Star Team 1951, 1952, 1953 and also played in 1950, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1959, 1963, 1964, and 1968 NHL All-Star games.

Detroit Red Wings retired Sawchuk's #1 jersey on March 6, 1994

Terry Sawchuk was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1971.

Terry Sawchuk was inducted into the Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1975.

Terry Sawchuk was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in 1982.

In January 2017, Sawchuk was part of the first group of players to be named '100 Greatest NHL Players' in history.

Sawchuk held the NHL shutout record for 46 years with 103 shutouts, being the 1st NHL goalie to reach 100 shutouts in 1967. He also had 12 NHL playoff shutouts.
