Awrey made his NHL debut with Boston Bruins on October 8, 1963 vs Montreal Canadiens at Boston Garden in a 4-4 tie.
Awrey scored his 1st NHL goal vs Charlie Hodge of Montreal Canadiens at 3:07 of 3rd period on March 15, 1964 at Boston Garden in a 3-1 Boston win.
Awrey played in the 1974 NHL All Star Game.
Lowrey played in 979 regular season NHL games, scoring 31 goals (2 GWG), 158 assists with 1058 penalty minutes and 71 NHL playoff games, scoring no goals, 18 assists with 150 penalty minutes.
Don Awrey was inducted into The Waterloo Region Hall of Fame in 1972.
