Francis James "Coddy" Winters - Born January 29, 1884 in Duluth, Minnesota - Died November 17, 1944 in Tiffin, Ohio was an American ice Hockey rover, cover point, defenceman, coach and linesman.

- MacNaughton Cup Champion 1914 with Cleveland Athletic Club (1st Winners).

- Fellowes Cup Champion (USAHA) 1921 with Cleveland Indians.

Growing up in Duluth, a hotspot for ice polo and ice Hockey in the late 1800s, Coddy would excel at both, giving way to a more structured Hockey environment with teams and leagues. He would join the Duluth Athletic Club in 1903, playing on their ice Hockey team for 5 seasons, also playing for the Northern Hardware Co. Hockey Team, a top amateur team that toured and played teams in other cities. It was when the Northern Hardware team visited the Elysium Arena in Cleveland, Ohio in the winter of 1908, playing the Cleveland All-Stars. Coddy fell in love with Cleveland and their beautiful arena, The Elysium, which at the time was the largest indoor rink in the world.

Coddy would move to Cleveland in the summer of 1908, and basically never leave. He first played for the Cleveland Crescents and Cleveland All-Stars, before joining the Cleveland Athletic Club in 1909.

Cody was named team captain after a couple of seasons, and would lead the Cleveland Athletic Club to the 1st championship of the MacNaughton Cup in 1914. (it's still awarded today)

Coddy would later play for the Cleveland Indians, leading them to the Fellowes Cup championship in 1921, which was the awarded for the United States Amateur Hockey Association playoff champion.

While playing in Cleveland, Coddy also coached Hockey at Case Institute of Technology and would make trips to coach the teams at University of Pennsylvania.

After retiring as a player, Coddy would be a linesman and also referee games in the Cleveland area.

Frank "Coddy" Winters was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1973 - one of the original 25 enshrinees.
