Elwin Nelson "Doc" Romnes - Born January 1, 1907 in White Bear Lake, Minnesota - Died July 21, 1984 in Colorado Springs, Colorado was an American ice Hockey center and coach.

- Stanley Cup Champion 1934, 1938 with Chicago Black Hawks.
Stanley Cup finalist 1931, 1939.

- United States Hockey League Champion 1946 with Kansas City Pla-Mors (coach). Regular season and playoff champion.

Romnes made his NHL debut with Chicago Black Hawks on November 20, 1930 vs Boston Bruins at Chicago Stadium in a 1-0 Black Hawks win.

Romnes scored his 1st NHL goal vs Dolly Dolson of Detroit Falcons at 5:45 of 3rd period on February 20, 1931 at Chicago Stadium in a 5-4 Detroit OT win.

Romnes scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Roy Worters of New York Americans on March 5, 1935 at Chicago Stadium in a 5-1 Black Hawks win. His 2nd goal was the game winner.

Romnes assisted in game 1 OT winner, scored game 2 winner, had 1 assist in game 3 and assisted on game 4 OT 1934 Stanley Cup championship goal in best of 5.

Romnes scored game 3 winner, 1 assist in game 1 and 4 in 1938 Stanley Cup finals best of 5.

Romnes played in 360 regular season NHL games, scoring 67 goals (12 GWG / 1 OTG), 137 assists with 40 penalty minutes and 43 NHL playoff games, scoring 7 goals (5 GWG / 1 OTG), 18 assists with 4 penalty minutes.

After retiring as a player, Romnes started coaching, first with Michigan Tech Huskies for a number of seasons, leading him to the Kansas City Pla-Mors for a couple of seasons, winning the USHL in 1946. He then moved on to the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, coaching their Hockey team for a few seasons.

Elwin "Doc" Romnes was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1973.
