Douglas Wagner Bentley - Born September 3, 1916 in Delisle, Saskatchewan - Died November 24, 1972 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was a Canadian Indigenous (Métis) ice Hockey left winger/centre, scout, coach and manager.

Bentley made his NHL debut with Chicago Black Hawks on November 2, 1939 vs Detroit Red Wings at Chicago Stadium in a 3-2 Black Hawks win.

Bentley scored his 1st NHL goal vs Frank Brimsek of Boston Bruins at 2:27 of 1st period on November 14, 1939 at Boston Garden in a 3-1 Bruins win.

Younger brother Max Bentley joined him in 1940-41, and they later combined with center Bill Mosienko to form "The Pony Line," one of the most famous forward units in NHL history.

Bentley scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Johnny Mowers of Detroit Red Wings on November 19, 1942 at Chicago Stadium in a 6-2 Black Hawks win. His 1st goal was the game winner.

Bentley played in 565 regular season NHL games, scoring 219 goals (28 GWG / 1 OTG), 324 assists with 217 penalty minutes and 23 NHL playoff games, scoring 9 goals (2 GWG), 8 assists with 16 penalty minutes.

Bentley was the Top Scorer in the NHL during the 1942-43 season with 33 goals, 40 assists in 50 games.

Bentley played in NHL All-Star Games 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951.

Bentley was selected to NHL First All-Star Teams 1943, 1944, 1947.

Doug Bentley was inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame in 1964.

Douglas “Doug” Bentley was inducted into Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 1967.

Doug Bentley was inducted into the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012.
