Adam Robert Oates - Born August 27, 1962 in Weston, Ontario is a Canadian retired ice Hockey centre and coach.

Oates played in the 1975 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a team from Toronto.

- NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Champion 1985 with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute / R.P.I Engineers.
NCAA Tournament Frozen Four Finalist 1985.
Eastern College Athletic Conference / ECAC Champion 1984, 1985.

- Calder Cup Champion 1986 with Adirondack Red Wings.
- F. G. "Teddy" Oke Trophy Champion 1986 with Adirondack Red Wings.

- Prince of Wales Trophy Champion 1998 with Washington Capitals.

- Clarence S. Campbell Bowl Champion 2002 with Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

Oates made his NHL debut with Detroit Red Wings on October 10, 1985 vs Minnesota North Stars at Joe Louis Arena, also scoring his 1st NHL goal on Don Beaupre at 9:06 of 1st period in a 6-6 tie.

Oates scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Jocelyn Thibault & Jacques Cloutier of Quebec Nordiques on February 8, 1994 at Quebec Coliseum in a 8-1 Boston win.

Oates played in 1337 regular season NHL games, scoring 341 goals (56 GWG / 5 OTG), 1079 assists with 415 penalty minutes and 163 NHL playoff games, scoring 42 goals (7 GWG / 1 OTG), 114 assists with 66 penalty minutes.

Adam Oates was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012.

In 2017, Oates was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in history.
