Graves made his NHL debut with Detroit Red Wings on October 9 1997 vs Edmonton Oilers at Northlands Coliseum in a 4-1 Red Wings win.
Graves scored his 1st NHL goal vs Allan Bester of Toronto Maple Leafs at 5:30 of 3rd period on October 15, 1988 at Maple Leaf Gardens in a 5-2 Red Wings win.
While playing for Edmonton Oilers, Graves scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Alain Chevrier of Chicago Blackhawks on December 17, 1989 at Chicago Stadium in a 6-5 Blackhawks win.
While playing for the New York Rangers, and during their NHL President's Trophy winning season in 1993-94, Graves became just the 2nd Ranger (Vic Hadfield 1st) to score 50 or more goals during the regular season. He had 52.
