EditGuy Gerard "Pointu" Lapointe - Born March 18, 1948 in Montreal, Quebec is a Canadian retired ice Hockey defenceman, coach, general manager and currant scout.
Guy Lapointe teamed with Larry Robinson and Serge Savard to form the Montreal Canadiens' legendary "Big Three" on defense in the 1970s.

Lapointe made his NHL debut with Montreal Canadiens on October 27, 1968 vs Boston Bruins at Boston Garden in a 4-2 Boston win. He got a 2 minute tripping penalty.
Lapointe scored his 1st NHL goal vs Roger Crozier of Buffalo Sabres at 1:59 of 3rd period on October 15, 1970 at Buffalo Memorial Auditorium in a 3-0 Montreal win.
Lapointe scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Gary Bromley of Buffalo Sabres on November 13, 1974 at Montreal Forum in a 8-6 Buffalo win.
Lapointe played in 884 regular season NHL games, scoring 171 goals (22 GWG), 451 assists with 893 penalty minutes and 123 NHL playoff games, scoring 26 goals (5 GWG), 44 assists with 138 penalty minutes.
Guy Lapointe was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993.
NOTE
Lapointe holds the Montreal Canadiens' record for most goals in a season for a defenceman with 28 (1974-75), and most goals for a rookie defenceman with 15 (1970-71).
