Glen Cameron “Slats” Sather - Born September 2, 1943 in High River, Alberta, is a Canadian retired ice Hockey left winger coach, general manager, president and executive.

He is the current senior advisor and alternate governor of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League /NHL.

Sather had a executive position for Hockey Canada, helping with the selection of Canadian players for the 1984 Canada Cup, 1994 Ice Hockey World Championships and 1996 World Cup of Hockey.

Sather made his NHL debut with Boston Bruins on Christmas Day December 25, 1966 vs Toronto Maple Leafs at Boston Garden in a 4-2 Toronto win.

Sather scored his 1st NHL goal vs Rogie Vachon of the Montreal Canadiens at 17:03 of the 3rd period at Boston Garden in a 6-2 Boston win.

Sather played 658 regular season NHL games, scoring 80 (11 GWG), 113 assists with 724 penalty minutes and 72 NHL playoff games, scoring 1 goal, 5 assists with 86 penalty minutes.

Sather was named player-coach of the Edmonton Oilers with 18 games remaining in the 1976-77 World Hockey Association / WHA season. In his first game as player-coach, the Oilers defeated the Winnipeg Jets 5–4, with Sather himself scoring a goal 1:11 into the game. He retired as a player after that season, but remained as head coach and was the face of the franchise for the next quarter-century.

Sather stayed on as head coach when the Oilers joined the NHL in 1979–80 and would add general manager to his duties.

In 2000, Sather joined the New York Rangers to become their president and general manager. He has moved around the Rangers front office and is currently a senior advisor.

Glen Sather was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame & Museum in 1996.

Glen Sather was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997.

In 2010, he was elected as an inaugural inductee into the World Hockey Association Hall of Fame in the "Legends of the Game" category.

The Glen Sather Trophy is awarded each season to the Coach of the Year in the Alberta Elite Hockey League / AEHL.
