EditDenis Joseph Savard - Born February 4, 1961 in Pointe-Gatineau, Quebec is a Canadian retired ice Hockey centre and coach.
Savard played in the 1973 and 1974 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with a minor ice Hockey team from Verdun, Quebec.

Savard made his NHL debut with Chicago Black Hawks on October 9, 1980 vs Buffalo Sabres at Chicago Stadium in a 4-3 Black Hawks win. he had 3 assists in the game.
Savard scored his 1st NHL goal vs Denis Herron of Montreal Canadiens at 16:52 of 1st period on October 11, 1980 at Montreal Forum in a 5-4 Black Hawks win.
Savard scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Glen Hanlon of St. Louis Blues on April 19, 1982 at Chicago Stadium in a 7-4 Black Hawks win.
Savard would become a legend in Chicago, thrilling the hometown fans with his famous spin-o-rama, players thought they had him checked when all of a sudden he went thataway.
Savard helped lead Chicago to the conference finals in 1982, 1983, 1985 and 1990.
Savard had 87 assists (44 goals) in 1987-88, when he broke the Blackhawks mark for points with 131.
Savard was traded to Montreal Canadiens on June 29, 1990 for Chris Chelios and a 2nd round Draft Choice in 1991 Entry Draft (Mike Pomichter). Savard's point production was declining now, and after he only had 5 assists in 14 playoff games when the Canadiens won the Stanley Cup in 1993, his contract was not renewed and he signed as a free agent with Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Lightning would trade Savard back to Chicago in April 1995, and he would finish his playing days as a Blackhawk.
Savard was then offered a coaching job with Chicago, and he started as a assistant coach for the 1997-98 season, then took over as head coach during the 2006-07 season, and later fired/replaced by Joel Quenneville in October 2008.
Savard played in 1196 regular season NHL games, scoring 473 goals (56 GWG / 1 OTG), 865 assists with 1336 penalty minutes and 169 NHL playoff games, scoring 66 goals (6 GWG), 109 assists with 254 penalty minutes.
Savard played in NHL All-Star Games 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1991, 1996.
Savard's No. 18 Chicago Blackhawks jersey was retired on March 18, 1998, at the United Center.
In 2017, Savard was named one of the '100 Greatest NHL Players' in history.
Denis Savard was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2000.
