Martin Pierre "Marty" Brodeur - Born May 6, 1972 in Montreal, Quebec is a Canadian/American retired ice Hockey goaltender and assistant general manager.

Brodeur made his NHL debut with New Jersey Devils on March 26, 1992 vs Boston Bruins at Brendan Byrne Arena in a 4-2 Devils win, also his 1st NHL victory. He won his first 2 games.

Brodeur got his 1st NHL shutout vs Mighty Ducks of Anaheim on October 20, 1993 at Brendan Byrne Arena in a 4-0 Devils win.

Brodeur played in 1266 regular season NHL games, winning 691, losing 397 with 105 ties, 125 shutouts, 2 goals, 45 assists and 122 penalty minutes wth GAA 2.24

Brodeur played in 205 NHL playoff games, winning 113, losing 91, 24 shutouts, 1 goal, 12 assists with 34 penalty minutes.

Brodeur was selected to the NHL First All-Star Team in 2003, 2004, 2007.

Brodeur played in NHL All-Star Games 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007.

Brodeur is the only NHL goalie to be credited with 3 goals - 1st was scored vs Montreal Canadiens on April 17, 1997, a playoff game at Continental Airlines Arena at 19:15 of 3rd period in a 5-2 Devils win. He shot the puck himself (SOG).

The other 2 goals were credited to him, as he was last Devils player to touch the puck, as both Philadelphia Flyers (February 15, 2000 a GWG) & Carolina Hurricanes (March 21, 2013) scored into their own net.

Brodeur holds the most regular season wins in NHL history (691) - Most 40-win seasons in NHL history (7) - Most consecutive 35-win seasons in NHL history (11) -Most consecutive 30-win seasons in NHL history (12) - Most overtime wins in NHL history (45) and most shutouts in NHL history (125) and playoffs (24).

Brodeur represented Canada 29 times, winning 17, losing 7 with 2 ties, 1 shutout and GAA 2.25

In 2017, Brodeur was named by the league as one of the "100 Greatest NHL Players"

Martin Brodeur was inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018

Martin Brodeur was awarded the Order of Sport and inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.

"The Brodeur Rule" is a rule disallowing goaltenders from handling the puck outside a trapezoid shaped area behind the net, as his tendency to play the puck in the corners inspired the rule.
