Ridley made his NHL debut with New York Rangers on December 19, 1974 vs Boston Bruins at Boston Garden in a 11-3 Boston win. Ridley let in 6 goals.
Ridley got his1st NHL victory vs Kansas City Scouts on December 29, 1974 at Madison Square Garden in a 2-1 Rangers win.
Ridley got his1st NHL shutout playing for Vancouver Canucks vs California Golden Seals on April 2, 1976 at Oakland–Alameda County Coliseum Arena in a 5-0 Canucks win.
Ridley, while playing for the Vancouver Canucks, became the 1st NHL goalie to have a shutout vs a Soviet team (Super Series), as they won 2-0 vs Soviet League Champion Spartak Moscow at the Pacific Coliseum on December 28, 1977.
Ridley also defeated Dynamo Moscow 6-2 on December 26, 1979 at the Pacific Coliseum.
Ridley played in 104 regular season NHL games, winning 27, losing 47 with 16 ties, 1 shutout, 1 assist and 17 penalty minutes. He played 2 NHL playoff games, losing both.
