Barrasso made his NHL debut with Buffalo Sabres on October 5, 1983 vs Hartford Whalers at Buffalo Memorial Auditorium in a 5-3 Buffalo win.....also his 1st NHL victory.
Barrasso got his 1st NHL shutout vs Los Angeles Kings on January 18, 1984 at The Forum in a 4-0 Buffalo win.
Barrasso played in 777 regular season NHL games, winning 369 (38 SO), 277 losses, 86 ties with 437 penalty minutes and 48 assists. He played in 119 NHL playoff games, winning 61 (6 SO), 54 losses with 49 penalty minutes and 7 assists.
Barrasso represented the USA at 1983 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships (5th), 1984 Canada Cup, 1986 Ice Hockey World Championships, 1987 Canada Cup and 2002 Winter Olympics (2nd).
Barrasso is the 1st American goaltender to record 300 NHL wins, doing so on October 19, 1997 vs Florida Panthers in a 4-1 Penguins win.
He also holds the record for most NHL playoff wins by an American goaltender with 61.
Barrasso holds the NHL record for assists and points by a goaltender with 48.
Barrasso holds the NHL record for most consecutive NHL playoff wins with 14 (May 9, 1992, to April 22, 1993).
Tom Barrasso was inducted into the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
Tom Barrasso was inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009.
Tom Barrasso was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2023.
