James Michael "Jim" Carey - Born May 31, 1974 in Dorchester, Massachusetts is an American retired ice Hockey goaltender.

Carey made his NHL debut with Washington Capitals on March 2, 1995 vs New York Islanders at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in a 4-3 Capitals win, which was also his 1st NHL victory.

Carey won 4 games in a row to start his NHL career.

Carey got his 1st NHL shutout vs Tampa Bay Lightning on March 13, 1995 at the Thunderdome in a 3-0 Capitals win.

Carey played in 172 regular season NHL games, winning 79, losing 65 with 16 ties, 16 shutouts, 1 assist and had a 2.58 GAA.

Carey was selected to the NHL First All-Star Team in 1996.

Jim Carey was inducted into the Portland Pirates Hall of Fame in 2008
