Pike made his NHL debut with the New York Rangers on November 5, 1939 vs Detroit Red Wings at The Olympia in a 1-1 OT tie.

Pike scored his 1st NHL goal vs Mike Karakas of the Chicago Black Hawks on November 30, 1939 at 8:50 of the 2nd period at Chicago Stadium in a 7-2 Rangers win. His goal was the game winner.

Pike scored 42 goals (6 GWG), 77 assists in 234 NHL regular season games and 4 goals (1 GWG), 2 assists in 21 NHL playoff games.

In the 1940 Stanley Cup finals vs Toronto, Pike scored the winning goal in overtime (15:30) on Turk Broda in game 1 at Madison Square Garden in a 2-1 Rangers win. He also scored the game 6 tying goal at 10:01 of the 3rd period, which allowed Bryan Hextall to score the Stanley Cup winning goal in overtime at Maple Leaf Gardens.
