At the 1976 Canada Cup, Holeček split the goaltending with Vladimír Dzurilla and the team finished (2nd) as runner-up. Holeček played in the semi-finals vs Soviet Union, winning 3-1
Jiří Holeček was inducted into the International Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 1998.
