George Chin - Born Jul 28 1929 in Lucknow, Ontario is a retired Chinese/Canadian ice Hockey right winger.

Played on original Windsor Spitfires Hockey team in 1946-47 OHA Junior A Series season. Scored 5 goals and 5 assists in 9 games. The Spitfires also committed their team to the International Hockey League / IHL for their second season, also in 1946-47, so the Spitfires they played in 2 leagues, 28 games in in the IHL and 18 games in the OHA. Chin scored 8 goals (13 assists) in 15 IHL games, and another 3 goals (2 assists) in 3 playoff games, as the Windsor Spitfires won the 1947 Turner Cup as IHL champions.

Chin later joined the senior Chatham Maroons for the 1949-50 IHL season, scoring 18 goals (22 assists) in 38 regular season games, and 3 goals (1 assist) in 10 playoff games, helping the Maroons win the 1950 Turner Cup as IHL champions.

Chin accepted a scholarship from the University of Michigan and began attending classes in the fall of 1950. After a year with the freshman team, Chin became a major contributor for the defending NCAA Div1 champion Wolverines and helped the team return to the NCAA tournament. Chin led Michigan in scoring for the championship, scoring two goals, including 1 in the championship game and two assists as the Wolverines won back to back NCAA D1 championships. Chin was selected to the NCAA All-Tournament First Team.

Chin had a solid season in 1952-53, scoring 27 goals with 27 assists, as Michigan repeated as NCAA D1 champions in 1953, with Chin again leading the team in postseason scoring, mostly on the strength of his five points against Boston University in the semi-final 14-2 Michigan victory.

In his senior season the Wolverines reached the tournament for the seventh consecutive year and were one of the favorites to win the tournament. In the semifinal against Rensselaer Chin was held scoreless for the first time in his postseason career and the Wolverines fell to the underdog Bachelors 4–6. The team destroyed their hotel room than night and then beat up Boston College in the consolation game with Chin contributing a goal and an assist. Despite the sour end, Chin ended his career as one of Michigan's top players, scoring 55 goals and 67 assists in three seasons. In six tournament games he scored 5 goals and added 7 assists for one of the best frozen four totals in NCAA history.

After graduating, Chin played one year of professional Hockey for the Nottingham Panthers in England before retiring from the game.

George Chin was inducted into the Michigan Dekers Hall of Fame in 1977 and was named as the 36th best player in the history of Michigan ice Hockey in 2018

Racism held players of colour back. According to George Chin, he faced regular racist slurs on the ice growing up.

“When we played in places like Goderich, Kincardine, and Hanover, we heard the occasional racial taunt. It was stuff like, ‘Kill that ch—-!’ We just shrugged it off and tried to score another goal to beat them,”

Despite the vitriol, Chin became one of the earliest star Asian players of college ice Hockey.
