The Canadiens played a 50 game regular NHL season, winning 38, losing 5 with 7 ties and finished 1st in NHL standings.

Maurice Richard led the Canadiens in scoring with 32 goals.
Bill Durnan won the Vezina Trophy - the 1st rookie to win.

In the 1944 NHL playoffs, the Canadiens defeated Toronto in 5 games in the semi-finals and then defeated Chicago in 4 straight games to win the 1944 Stanley Cup championship.

Toe Blake scored the Stanley Cup winner in overtime. In the same overtime, Bill Durnan stopped the 1st penalty shot awarded in the finals, against Virgil Johnson.
