EditGeorge Samuel Konik - Born May 4, 1937 in Flin Flon, Manitoba - Died October 21, 2016 in Eagan, Minnesota was a Canadian/American ice Hockey defenseman/left winger.

Konik was named tournament Best Defenceman and also voted to All-Star Team.
Team USA was promoted to Pool A for the next season. (Konik was team captain).
Konick played in 52 NHL games, all with Pittsburgh Penguins, making his NHL debut on October 19, 1967 vs Philadelphia Flyers at The Spectrum in a 1-0 Flyers win. He scored his 1st NHL goal vs Garry Bauman of Minnesota North Stars at 3:24 of 1st period on December 9, 1967 at Metropolitan Sports Center in a 3-2 Penguins win. Konik scored 7 NHL goals (1 GWG), 8 assists with 26 penalty minutes.
George Konik was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011.
NOTE
Konik scored the 1st Penalty Shot Goal in Pittsburgh Penguins History. January 31, 1968 at St. Louis Arena, scoring on Glenn Hall at 10:32 of 3rd period in a 9-4 Blues win.
