Walter Thomas John "Walt" McKechnie - Born June 19, 1947 in London, Ontario is a Canadian retired ice Hockey centre.
McKechnie made his NHL debut with the Minnesota North Stars on February 17, 1968 vs the St. Louis Blues in a 2-2 tie at the Met Center.
McKechnie scored his 1st NHL goal vs Bernie Parent of the Philadelphia Flyers on December 19, 1968 at 7:55 of the 3rd period in a 5-5 tie at The Spectrum.
McKechnie played for nine teams in the National Hockey League / NHL, scoring 214 goals (24 GWG), 392 assists in 955 NHL regular season games and 7 goals (1 GWG), 5 assists in 15 NHL playoff games.
McKechnie represented Canada at the 1977 Ice Hockey World Championships.
Walt McKechnie was inducted into the London Sports Hall of Fame in 2009.
