EditTheodore John "Ted" Nolan - Born April 7, 1958 in Garden River First Nation, Ontario is a Canadian Indigenous (Ojibwe) retired ice Hockey left winger, coach and general manager.

Nolan made his NHL debut with Detroit Red Wings on January 3, 1982 vs Chicago Black Hawks at Chicago Stadium in a 4-3 Chicago win.
Nolan scored his 1st NHL goal vs Michel Dion of Pittsburgh Penguins at 13:15 of 2nd period on January 7, 1982 at Joe Louis Arena in a 5-4 Detroit win.
Nolan played in 78 regular season NHL games, scoring 6 goals (1 GWG), 16 assists with 105 penalty minutes and no NHL playoff games.
Nolan turned to coaching, taking the Soo Greyhounds to 2 OHL championships and a Memorial Cup championship in 1992.
Nolan joined the Hartford Whalers in 1994 as a assistant coach, and was named the Buffalo Sabres head coach in 1995. (1995-1997 and 2013-2015)
He won the Jack Adams Award in 1997 with Buffalo.
Nolan later coached the Moncton Wildcats, New York islanders (2006-2008), Latvian National Men's Team (2014 Sochi Olympics) and Poland National men's Team.
Ted Nolan was inducted into the New York State Hockey Hall of Fame in 2023
