The second straight Stanley Cup Final series between Detroit and Toronto. The Maple Leafs swept the Red Wings again 4-0 to win their 3rd consecutive Stanley Cup and 8th in the history of the franchise. Cal Gardner scored the championship winning goal at 10:45 of 2nd period.
NHL President Clarence Campbell presented the 1949 Stanley Cup to captain Ted Kennedy at Maple Leaf Gardens on April 16th.
