Stephen John "Steve" Shutt - Born July 1, 1952 in North York, Ontario is a Canadian retired ice Hockey left winger, coach and television Hockey commentator.

- Stanley Cup Champion 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979 with Montreal Canadiens.

- Prince of Wales Trophy Champion 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1981 with Montreal Canadiens.

Shutt made his NHL debut with Montreal Canadiens on October 7, 1972 vs Minnesota North Stars at Montreal Forum in a 3-0 Montreal win.

Shutt scored his 1st NHL goal vs Phil Myre of Atlanta Flames at 3:41 of 3rd period on December 2, 1972 at Montreal Forum in a 4-4 tie.

Shutt scored his 1st hat-trick vs Gary Smith of Vancouver Canucks on November 9, 1974 at Montreal Forum in a 4-3 Montreal win. His 3rd goal was the game winner.

Shutt played in 930 regular season NHL games, scoring 424 goals (50 GWG), 393 assists with 410 penalty minutes and 99 NHL playoff games, scoring 50 goals (5 GWG), 48 assists with 65 penalty minutes.

Shutt was famous for the power and level of accuracy found in his slap shot, which he could get off in full stride while coming down the wing. Shutt was frequently able to get his shot off one or two steps inside the offensive zone and beat goalies clean.

Shutt scored at least 30 goals in 9 consecutive seasons from 1974-75, his third season in the League, through 1982-83.

Steve Shutt was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993.

NOTE
Shutt became the 1st left-winger in NHL history to score 60 goals in a single season, with the historic goal being scored on Ron Low of Washington Capitals at 18:17 of 1st period on April 3, 1977 at Capital Centre in a 2-1 Montreal win. He led all NHL players in goals that season (1976-77). Only left wingers Luc Robitaille & Alex Ovechkin have scored 60 goals or more in a NHL season.
