Michael Thomas "Mike" Modano Jr. - Born June 7, 1970 in Livonia, Michigan is an American retired ice Hockey centre

Modano made his NHL debut with the Minnesota North Stars on April 6, 1989 vs St. Louis Blues at the St. Louis Arena in 4-3 OT Blues win ..... game 2 of NHL playoff series vs St. Louis.

Modano scored his 1st NHL goal vs Glenn Healy of the New York Islanders at 8:14 of the 1st period on October 5, 1989 at Metropolitan Sports Center in a 6-5 North Stars win. This was the NHL season opener, 1st regular season game for Modano and on home ice, and he showed up to play, scoring that first goal in the 1st, a assist in the 2nd period and a penalty late in the 3rd, Modano almost got a true Gordie Howe Hat-Trick, whom he would wear the number 9 in honour of.

Modano would go on to become one of the greatest American born ice Hockey players of all time, scoring 561 goals (9-OTG), 813 assists in 1499 NHL regular season games and 58 goals (2-OTG), 88 assists in 176 NHL playoff games. He holds NHL records for USA born players for most goals, most points, most playoff points and most games as a forward. He had one 50 goal season (1993-94).

Modano represented the USA at 3 Winter Olympics (silver medal winner in 2002), 5 World Championships (bronze medal winner in 1996 and 2004), 2 World Junior Championships, 1991 Canada Cup (runner-up) and the championship of the 1996 World Cup of Hockey.

Modano was named by the NHL as the Special Ambassador to the 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration in Dallas.

In 2017, Modano was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players.
