A complete set form, these NHL team patches were premiums offered by the St. Lawrence Starch Company through its popular send-in program which began in 1934. Proofs of purchase from the company's star product, Beehive corn syrup, were mostly sent in, in exchange for photos and other items like these thin cloth "shields" as they were referred to at the time
