EditThe Ottawa Senators captured the 1919–20 NHL title after they won both halves of the regular season, thus eliminating the need for a league championship playoff. The Seattle Metropolitans finished the 1919–20 PCHA regular season in first place with a 12–10 record, and then had to defeat the second place Vancouver Millionaires in a two game total goals championship series, 7–3, to win the PCHA title. The Stanley Cup championship series went all 5 games starting on March 22, 1920 with Ottawa winning 3 to 2 under NHL rules. March 24, 1920 with Ottawa winning again 3 to 0 under PCHA rules. Game 3 on March 27, 1920 had Seattle winning 3 to 1 under NHL rules. Game 4 on March 30, 1920 was again won by Seattle, this time 5 to 2 under PCHA rules. It all came down to game 5 on April 1, 1920, with Ottawa winning 6 to 1 and becoming Stanley Cup Champions for 1920.
