Ross Ingram "Lefty" Wilson - Born October 15, 1919 in Toronto, Ontario - Died November 4, 2002 in Naples, Florida was a Canadian/American ice Hockey goaltender, trainer, assistant gm and mask maker / innovator.

- Southern Alberta Hockey League Champion 1930 with Calgary Bronks (mascot).

- Stanley Cup Champion 1950, 1952, 1954, 1955 with Detroit Red Wings (trainer).
Stanley Cup finalist 1956, 1961, 1963, 1964, 1966.

- Prince of Wales Trophy Champion 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1957, 1965 with Detroit Red Wings (trainer).

- Canada Cup Champion 1976 with Team Canada (trainer).

Lefty Wilson was the trainer and emergency back-up / practice goalie for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League / NHL from 1950 to 1982.

Wilson played in 3 NHL games in his career as the emergency back-up goaltender.
On October 10, 1953 he suited up for the Red Wings in relief for an injured Terry Sawchuk in a losing effort playing a total of 16 minutes for the Red Wings. On January 22, 1956 he suited up for the Toronto Maple Leafs replacing an injured Harry Lumley in another losing effort playing a total of 13 minutes and stopping nine shots for the Maple Leafs. On December 29, 1957 he suited up for the Boston Bruins replacing an injured Don Simmons in a game that ended in a 2-2 tie playing a total of 52 minutes allowing a goal and making 23 saves for the Bruins.

Lefty Wilson was a early mask maker for goaltenders. Terry Sawchuk was his 1st NHL goalie to wear his mask. Cesare Maniago, also a NHL goalie wore his mask.

Ross "Lefty" Wilson was inducted into the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Society / PHATS in 1995
Part of the Hockey Hall of Fame, Lefty Wilson was the 1st inductee for both PHATS and SPHEM / Society of Professional Hockey Equipment Managers.
