Roderic Jean "Rod the Bod" Brind'Amour - Born August 9, 1970 in Ottawa, Ontario is a retired Canadian ice Hockey centre and current coach of Carolina Hurricanes.

Brind'Amour led the tournament with 5, goals, 9 assists and was awarded the Tournament MVP and selected to Centennial Cup All-Star Team.

Brind'Amour made his NHL debut with St. Louis Blues on April 11, 1989, a playoff game vs Minnesota North Stars, also scoring his 1st NHL goal vs Jon Casey at 9:48 of 2nd period at St. Louis Arena in a 6-1 Blues win.

St. Louis later traded Brind'Amour to Philadelphia on September 22, 1991.

While playing for the Philadelphia Flyers, Brind'Amour scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Robb Stauber & Kelly Hrudey of Los Angeles Kings on December 29, 1992 at Great Western Forum in a 10-2 Flyers win. He also had 3 assists in the game.

Brind'Amour became a marquee player in Philadelphia, averaging over a point per game in his first 5 seasons there. He was also a alternate captain for the Flyers, sometime wearing the C, and became a solid defensive forward, known for his shutdown of opposing teams best players.

Philadelphia later traded Brind'Amour to Carolina on January 23, 2000, and helped lead the Hurricanes to the 2002 Stanley Cup finals.

Rod Brind'Amour was named Hurricanes captain to start the 2005-06 season, and led Carolina to win the Stanley Cup championship that season.

Brind'Amour recorded his 1,000 NHL point in November, 2006, then scored his 400th NHL goal in February, 2007.

Brind'Amour tore his ACL in February, 2008 and would return for the 2008-09 season. He played 2 more seasons, before retiring at the end of the 2009-10 season.

Brind'Amour played in 1484 regular season NHL games, scoring 452 goals (67 GWG / 8 OTG), 732 assists with 1100 penalty minutes and 159 NHL playoff games, scoring 51 goals (8 GWG / 1 OTG), 60 assists with 97 penalty minutes.

Brind'Amour played in 1992 NHL All-Star Game.

The Hurricanes retired Brind'Amour's No. 17 on Feb. 18, 2011.

Brind'Amour also represented Canada 42 times, 7 as a junior, scoring 2 goals, 3 assists with 4 penalty minutes and 35 time s as a senior, scoring 10 goals, 8 assists with 12 penalty minutes.

After retiring as a player, Brind'Amour joined the Hurricanes first as director of player development, then became a assistant coach in 2011, before taking over a head coach in 2018.

Rod Brind'Amour was inducted into the Philadelphia Flyers Hall of Fame in 2015.

NOTE
Brind'Amour became the 4th captain and then team coach in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup, and the 7th person to win the Stanley Cup with the same franchise as a player and a coach.
