Lazarus "Larry" Zeidel - Born June 1, 1928 in Montreal, Quebec – Died June 17, 2014 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was a Canadian/American ice Hockey defenceman.

- Stanley Cup Champion 1952 with Detroit Red Wings.

In his early years Zeidel played for Porcupine Combines (NOHA), Verdun Maple Leafs (QJHL), Barrie Flyers (OHA), Quebec Aces (QSHL) and Saskatoon Quakers (SSHL). It was during his days in Saskatoon that he picked up his nickname "The Rock".

Zeidel made his NHL debut with the Detroit Red Wings on October 14, 1951 vs Toronto Maple Leafs at Detroit Olympia in a 3-2 Toronto win.

Zeidal scored his 1st NHL goal vs Al Rollins of Toronto Maple Leafs at 14:44 of 3rd period on March 8, 1952 at Maple Leaf Gardens in a 6-3 Toronto win.

Zeidal played 10 games in October and November 1951, then got called back to Detroit in March 1952, playing 9 games, scoring his 1st NHL goal, then played 5 NHL playoff games, helping the Red Wings win the 1952 Stanley Cup championship.

Zeidal played most of the 1951-52 season with the AHL Indianapolis Capitals.

The next year, Zeidel appeared in only 9 games with the Red Wings, playing most of the season with Edmonton Flyers, helping them win the President's Cup (Lester Patrick Cup). He was traded to the Chicago Black Hawks prior to the 1953-54 season where he appeared in 64 games for Chicago.

Zeidal was back in Edmonton for the 1954-55 WHL season, helping the Flyers win another President's Cup.

Zeidel spent most of the next 13 seasons in the minor leagues, with the majority of his time with the Hershey Bears of the AHL where he won back-to-back Calder Cup championships in 1958 and 1959. He was also a member of the 1964 Calder Cup champion Cleveland Barons.

Zeidel made his way back to the NHL with the expansion Philadelphia Flyers, and played 57 games in the 1967-68 season along with another 9 games the following season before he retired from professional Hockey after 18 seasons.

Zeidal played in 158 regular season NHL games, scoring 3 goals (1 GWG), 16 assists with 198 penalty minutes and 12 NHL playoff games, scoring 1 assist with 12 penalty minutes.

Zeidal played in 706 regular season AHL games, scoring 54 goals, 232 assists with 1722 penalty minutes and 81 AHL playoff games, scoring 6 goals, 33 assists with 205 penalty minutes.

NOTE
Zeidal was a angry player who got suspended and fined many times in his career for stick swinging, high sticking and kicking.
