EditLionel Joseph Pretoria "Big Train" Conacher MP - Born May 24, 1900 in Ottawa, Ontario - Died May 26, 1954 in Toronto, Ontario was a Canadian ice Hockey defenceman / coach, lacrosse forward, baseball player, football player, wrestler, boxer and track and field.
Conacher played lacrosse as a youth growing up, later playing for Toronto Maitlands Club, helping them win the Ontario Lacrosse Association Senior Championship in 1922.
He played the inside home position.
Lionel Conacher played just 1 season of box lacrosse in International Professional Lacrosse League for the Montreal Maroons Lacrosse Team in 1931. He led the league in scoring with 107 points.
The International Professional Lacrosse League lasted for about a 1 1/2 seasons before it failed. It was put together by Hockey team owners. It had 4 teams - Montreal Canadiens, Montreal Maroons, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Cornwall Colts.
