After playing 13 seasons with Montreal, defenceman Doug Harvey is chosen captain after Rocket Richard retired, only to be traded away to New York after his 14th season with the Canadiens. Béliveau then was chosen as captain, holding the "C" from 1961 to 1971, the longest tenure in Montreal Canadiens history.
