EditPaul Shmyr - Born January 18, 1946 in Cudworth, Saskatchewan - Died September 2, 2004 in Surrey, British Columbia was a Canadian ice Hockey defenceman.

Shmyr made his NHL debut with Chicago Black Hawks on February 9, 1969 vs Toronto Maple Leafs, also scoring his 1st NHL goal vs Bruce Gamble at 16:46 of 2nd period at Chicago Stadium in a 5-3 Toronto win.
Shmyr played in 343 regular season NHL games, scoring 13 goals (2 GWG), 72 assists with 528 penalty minutes and 34 NHL playoff games, scoring 2 goals (1 GWG), 1 assist with 52 penalty minutes.
Shmyr played in 511 regular season WHA games, scoring 61 goals, 248 assists with 860 penalty minutes and 43 WHA playoff games, scoring 5 goals, 18 assists with 107 penalty minutes.
Shmyr was named to the WHA First All-Star Team in 1973, 1974, and 1976.
Shmyr represented Canada/WHA at the 1974 Summit Series.
In 2010, Shmyr was elected as an inaugural inductee into the World Hockey Association Hall of Fame.
