George Alexander "Shorty" Horne - Born June 27, 1904 in Sudbury, Ontario - Died July 31, 1929 in Lake Sagatosky, Ontario was a Canadian ice Hockey right winger.

- Northern Ontario Hockey Association Junior Champion and Copeland Cup Winner 1924 with North Bay Trappers.

- Stanley Cup champion 1926 with Montreal Maroons

- Canadian Professional Hockey League / Can-Pro champion 1928 with Stratford Nationals.

Horne made his NHL debut with the Montreal Maroons on November 28, 1925 vs Ottawa Senators at Ottawa Auditorium in a 3-2 Ottawa win.

Horne scored his 1st NHL goal vs Charlie Gardiner of the Chicago Black Hawks at 14:10 of the 2nd period on November 15, 1928 at Mutual Street Arena in a 2-0 Toronto Maple Leafs win. Horne also had 1 assist.

Horne played 15 NHL games for the Maroons, 13 during the 1925-26 season and no playoff games during the Maroons Stanley Cup run.

Horne played 39 NHL regular season and 4 playoff games for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Horne died in the off-season in 1929 when he drowned while on Lake Sagatosky. He was working a summer job assessing mining claims in Northern Ontario when a storm capsized a canoe that he and 3 other workers were in. Horne didn't make it to shore while the other 3 did.
