The 1918 Allan Cup was significant in that it marked the final year that the award was given through a challenge series. At the time, it held a level of prestige that was similar to that of the Stanley Cup.

The Kitchener Greenshirts defeated three teams that year to capture the Allan Cup—the Toronto Dentals, the Port Arthur Columbus Club, and the Winnipeg Ypres.
