While playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Rupp scored his 1st NHL goal vs Eddie Johnston of Boston Bruins at 8:10 of 1st period on March 31, 1968 at Boston Garden in a 4-1 Toronto win.
While playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Rupp scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Jim Rutherford of Detroit Red Wings on March 24, 1971 at Pittsburgh Civic Arena in a 8-2 Penguins win. He became the 1st Penguin defenseman to score a NHL hat-trick.
Rupp played in 374 regular season NHL games, scoring 24 goals (3 GWG), 93 assists with 220 penalty minutes and 10 NHL playoff games, scoring 2 goals, 2 assists with 8 penalty minutes.
