Gilles Joseph Gerard Gilbert - Born March 31, 1949 in Saint-Esprit, Quebec - Died August 5, 2023 in Quebec City, Quebec was a Canadian ice Hockey goaltender, scout and goaltending coach.

- Prince of Wales Trophy Champion 1974 with Boston Bruins.

Gilbert played in the 1961 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the junior Quebec Aces.

Gilbert made his NHL debut with Minnesota North Stars on February 8, 1970 vs Pittsburgh Penguins at Pittsburgh Civic Arena in a 6-3 Penguins win.

Gilbert got his 1st NHL victory vs Montreal Canadiens on October 21, 1970 at Montreal Forum in a 3-1 North Stars win.

Gilbert was in goal when Jean Béliveau scored his 500th NHL goal and a hat-trick on February 11, 1971 at Montreal Forum in a 6-2 Canadiens win.

Gilbert got his 1st NHL shutout vs New York Islanders on November 11, 1972 at Metropolitan Sports Center in a 3-0 North Stars win.

Gilbert was traded to Boston Bruins for Fred Stanfield on May 22, 1973. He became a beloved figure in Boston.

Gilbert showcased his exceptional skills in net. His cat-like reflexes and ability to make acrobatic saves earned him the respect of his teammates, opponents, and fans alike. He played a crucial role in the Bruins’ success during his years in Boston and was an integral part of the Bruins journey to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1977 and 1978, where they lost both series to the Montreal Canadiens.

Gilbert was traded to Detroit Red Wings for Rogie Vachon on July 15, 1980. He played his last NHL game in goal for the Red Wings on March 30, 1983.

Gilbert played in 416 regular season NHL games, winning 192, losing 143 with 60 ties, 18 shutouts, 3.27 GAA, .883 SV%, 9 assists with 110 penalty minutes and 32 NHL playoffs, winning 17, losing 15, 3 shutouts, 3.04 GAA, .895 SV%, 3 assists with 10 penalty minutes.

Gilbert played in the 1974 NHL All-Star Game.
