EditThe trophy itself was made in 1878 by George Fox Silversmith (C.T. & G. Fox) in Soho, City of Westminster in the West End of London, England.
A large Sterling Silver tankard with lid, mounted on a hexagonal base. The most ornate of all NHL trophies. Other then the front engraving, the trophy has no team names on it, just on the ornate Sterling Silver plaques.
The engraving has been done by Carl Poul Petersen, his son Arno Peterson, Doug Boffey and now Louise St. Jacques.
Named and presented after Clarence Campbell, who served as president of the NHL from 1946–47 to 1976–77.
The Clarence S. Campbell Bowl was donated by the NHL's clubs in recognition of the contributions and services of its namesake, the NHL President at the start of the Modern Era expansion.
