Howard John Edward "Cowboy" Young - Born August 2, 1937 in Scarborough, Ontario - Died November 24, 1999 in Albuquerque, New Mexico was a Canadian/American ice Hockey defencman and right winger.

- Lester Patrick Cup Champion 1962 with Edmonton Flyers, 1973, 1974 with Phoenix Roadrunners.

Young made his NHL debut with Detroit Red Wings on January 14, 1961 vs New York Rangers at Detroit Olympia in a 2-2 tie.

Young scored his 1st NHL goal vs Gump Worsley of New York Rangers at 6:40 of the 3rd period on October 11, 1962 at Madison Square Garden in a 2-1 Detroit win.

Young played in 336 regular season NHL games, scoring 12 goals (2 GWG), 62 assists with 851 penalty minutes and 19 NHL playoff games, scoring 2 goals, 4 assists with 48 penalty minutes.

NOTE
Howie Young was also a cowboy actor, and had a minor role in the film None But The Brave, starring Frank Sinatra, an outlaw on the television mini-series Lonesome Dove, the movie Young Guns II and television film Last Stand at Saber River.
