Harry Scott Freeman - Born February 7,1876 in Staines, Middlesex, England – Died October 5,1968 in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire, England was a field Hockey right back/fullback.

1908 Summer Olympics Gold Medal Champion.

After the 1908 Olympics, Freeman retired from international Hockey but continued to captain Staines HC and Middlesex HC until after the war.

Freeman later became a member of the International Hockey Board and served as the Honorary Treasurer of the Hockey Association for many years.

Freeman had 4 brothers and all 5 of them played for the Staines Hockey Club.

Harry Scott Freeman spent the majority of his working life in local government, mainly as Clerk of the Council (Chief Executive) for Staines Urban District Council. For 53 years he was the Returning Officer in the Staines Elections and also worked for a lengthy period as Clerk to the Spelthorne Justices. Freeman also served as Captain of the Staines Boat Club, Honorary Secretary of the Thames Amateur Rowing Association, President of the Thames United Sailing Club, Commodore of the Upper Thames Sailing Club and Honorary Secretary of the Sailing Boat Association at various times.

Freeman was a partner in Horne, Engall and Freeman, local solicitors.

In 1890 Freeman acquired the title 'Lord of the Manor of Ashford' and it is believed he gave land to the Council to be used as a park and to prevent any future redevelopment. Scott Freeman Garden is now a garden in Borough of Spelthorne, Surrey, England
