This was a exhibition game prior to the start of the 1933 Ice Hockey World Championships, which were held in Prague, Czechoslovakia., February 18 to 26.

The Massachusetts Rangers were also Team USA, and would win the Ice Hockey World Championship. By winning its first-ever world championship, the Massachusetts Rangers deprived Canada of the world title for the first time in tournament history.
