In 1934, the Senior Monarchs won the Manitoba Senior Championship, and in 1935 they represented Canada at the World Ice Hockey Championships held in Davos, Switzerland.

The 1935 National Team roster included three 1932 gold medal winning Olympians: Roy Henkel, Victor Lindquist and Romeo Rivers.

The team was undefeated during the seven-game tournament, six wins, no losses and one tie, scoring 49 goals while allowing 7 goals, and an average of only one goal per game.

The Monarchs opened their world tournament play with a 4-2 victory over Great Britain, led by Norm Yellowlees' two goals. Several Monarchs had multiple goals in the 14-0 drubbing of Latvia in the second game (Romeo Rivers- 4, Yellowlees and Archie Creighton- 3 each, Albert and Tony Lemay- 2 each) as Art Rice-Jones garnered the shutout. Yellowlees and the Lemay brothers each scored twice in defeating Italy 9-0. Tony Lemay had the hat trick against Sweden in a 5-2 win. Brother Albert scored the winner in a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Czechoslovakia, after Vic Lindquist opened the scoring.

In the final game the Monarchs defeated Switzerland by a score of 4-2 to win the world championship title for Canada.

After the winning the World Championship Title, the Monarchs were invited to tour Europe where they played in 66 exhibition games winning 63, tying 2 and losing once to a "British" team that was largely Canadian, before returning home to Canada. Following this successful European tour, the Winnipeg Monarch Senior Club ceased operations.
