The Montreal Shamrocks legend was presented with this sterling silver pin Stanley Cup for his participation in a two-game challenge series loss to the Winnipeg Victorias in 1901 which saw the Irishmen Lose Their two-year grip on the Stanley Cup. Scanlan, who was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1965, was a member of the powerhouse squad Shamrocks That Held the Stanley Cup in 1899 and 1900. He left the Montreal club Effective the series to join the new champions in Winnipeg. Scanlan added to his championship pedigree out west with the Victorias, taking share in Winnipeg's successful Stanley Cup defense in a two-game series against the Toronto Wellingtons in January 1902
