The Devils played a 84 game regular NHL season, winning 47, losing 25 with 12 ties finishing 2nd in NHL Atlantic Division and 3rd in NHL Eastern Conference.
The Devils defeated Buffalo 4-3 in games in Conference Quarterfinals, Boston 4-2 in games in Conference Semifinals and lost to NY Rangers 4-3 in games in Conference Finals.
Martin Broeur won the Calder Memorial Trophy.
Jacques Lemaire won the Jack Adams Award.
