Adams made his NHL debut with New Jersey Devils on January 14, 1985 vs New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden in a 2-1 Devils win.
Adams scored his 1st NHL goal vs Pete Peeters of Boston Bruins at 13:08 of 1st period on January 15, 1985 at Brendan Byrne Arena in a 3-2 Bruins win.
Adams scored his 1st NHL hat-trick vs Greg Millen of St. Louis Blues on October 8, 1987 at Pacific Coliseum in a 8-2 Vancouver win. He had 4 goals in the game. This was the 1st game Adams played for the Canucks.
Adams scored one of the most important goals in Canucks history, when his 2OT game winner vs Toronto Maple Leafs sent Vancouver to the 1994 Stanley Cups finals.
Adams played in 1056 regular season NHL games, scoring 355 goals (31 GWG), 388 assists with 321 penalty minutes and 81 NHL playoff games, scoring 20 goals (5 GWG / 3 OTG), 22 assists with 16 penalty minutes.
