Lyle Dwight Carter - Born April 29, 1945 in Truro, Nova Scotia is a Canadian retired ice Hockey goalie.

Herder Memorial Trophy finalist 1964 with Buchans Miners

- Atlantic City Boardwalk Trophy / Boardwalk Cup Champion 1969 with Clinton Comets
- George L. Davis Trophy Winner (EHL) 1969

- James Norris Memorial Trophy Winner (IHL) 1971 with Muskegon Mohawks.
- James Gatschene Memorial Trophy Winner (IHL) 1971 with Muskegon Mohawks.

Carter made his NHL debut with California Golden Seals on October 17, 1971 vs Pittsburgh Penguins at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena in a 4-2 Pittsburgh win.

Carter got his 1st NHL victory vs Detroit Red Wings on October 24, 1971 at Detroit Olympia in a 6-3 Golden Seals win.

Carter played in 15 regular season NHL games, winning 4 , losing 7 with 2 penalty minutes. 4.16 GAA & .861 SV%

Lyle Carter was elected to the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in 1984.

Lyle Carter was inducted into the Maritime Sport Hall of Fame in 2020.
