Paul Oronhyatekha Jacobs - Born February 23, 1893 in Montreal, Quebec - Died May 1, 1973 in Kahnawake, Quebec was a Canadian / Indigenous (Mohawk) ice Hockey defenceman and lacrosse Player.

Charlie Querrie, general manager of Toronto team in the NHL, invited Jacobs to their training camp in December, 1918.

NOTE
Jacobs could have been the 1st Indigenous Hockey player in the NHL, as there are reports in the Toronto Telegram and The Globe that he was on the roster for the 1918-19 season opener of the Toronto Arenas on December 23, 1918, but there are no mentions of him in the game summaries the next day in local papers, and both teams playing show 9 players each. The Ottawa Evening Journal does mention Jacobs in the lineup the following day.

There are also 2 historical books by noted Hockey Historians that include Jacobs playing - Total Hockey (page 729) credits Jacobs with playing 1 NHL game, while PLAYERS, The Ultimate A-Z Guide by Andrew Podnieks states Jacobs playing 5 games on January 7, 14, 21, 31 & February 4, 1919.
