McCreedy made his NHL debut with the Toronto Maple Leafs on November 8, 1941 vs Boston Bruins at Maple Leaf Gardens in a 2-0 Toronto win.

McCreedy scored his 1st NHL goal vs Johnny Mowers of Detroit Red Wings at 2:44 of 2nd period on November 15, 1941 at Maple Leafs Gardens in a 2-1 Toronto win.

McCreedy played in 64 regular season NHL games, scoring 17 Goals (5 GWG), 12 assists with 25 penalty minutes and 20 NHL playoff games, scoring 4 goals (1 GWG), 3 assists with 6 penalty minutes.

Johnny McCreedy was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame in 1985

Johnny McCreedy was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in 2004.
