NOTE
Art Ross was not only a great player, coach and manager is his day, but also that of inventor for ice Hockey.
He designed better goal nets for the game and a touch of innovation to the Hockey puck itself.
Art Ross beveled the edges of the puck and molded a checker pattern / diamond lattice pattern (the knurl) on the side to make the puck slide better and easier to control.
He patented his innovation in 1940 and his famed Patent Number (2226516) would appear on NHL game pucks for the next 28 years.
