- James T Sutherland
Often referred to as the “Father of Hockey”, Sutherland was an ardent supporter of the game who worked diligently on its behalf. He made his hometown of Kingston a famous ice Hockey centre during the years prior to the First World War. As coach of the Kingston Frontenacs junior team, Sutherland guided them to several championships. He served overseas with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War, reaching the rank of Captain.
Sutherland first became connected with the Ontario Hockey Association as a district representative, and his drive and keen interest shot him up through executive ranks until he became president in 1915, holding the position until 1918. In 1919, Sutherland served as the President of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association. He was instrumental in the founding of the Memorial Cup in 1919. Sutherland was the driving force behind the creation of the International Hockey Hall of Fame in 1943, and a major reason why the National Hockey League and the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association selected Kingston as its original home.

- George Richardson
Richardson was a fine player, goal scorer for Queen's University Golden Gaels, helping them win the the Intercollegiate Hockey Union in 1903, and the Canadian Intercollegiate championship in 1904 & 1906. The 1906 Queen's team challenged the Ottawa Hockey Club for the Stanley Cup, losing both games.. Richardson then played left wing for the 14th Regiment of Kingston team from 1907 to 1909. The 1908 team won the Ontario Hockey Association senior title, and the J. Ross Robertson Cup.

Richardson then joined the Kingston Frontenacs as team president, helping guide the juniors to the OHA title in 1911 and 1912.
When the First World War was declared, Richardson joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force on September 22, 1914 at CFB Valcartier. He was at the Western Front by February 1915. He was killed in action February 9, 1916 in a battle near Wulverghem.
From 1932 to 1971, The Eastern Canada junior Hockey champion won the George Richardson Memorial Trophy, and advanced to the Memorial Cup.
George Richardson was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1950, and into the Kingston and District Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
